To distinguish this variety from other varieties also called Brown Turkey, it was named after an Oregon garden writer Vern Nelson.

 

Vern’s Brown Turkey bears large, sweet and flavorful, dark brown figs with light amber flesh, often producing two crops a year.  Fruit is best eaten fresh but can keep for a few days or up to a week if refrigerated.

 

Grows to be 8-10′ in height, bears fruit late July, early August.

 

Cuttings will have a length between 6-10 inches long and contain a minimum of 3 nodes.  Thickness will be a minimum of pencil thick.  Cuttings will be fully lignified unless otherwise stated.
